Who We Are
A clear objective
AGA-Ukraina is an association created due to the conflict in Ukraine. Focusing on the civilians fleeing the war, our association aims to provide an immediate response to the needs of the displaced population, from hosting refugees in Galicia to offering advisory services on international protection.
Furthermore, since its inception, our association has mobilized efforts to send essential goods to those on the frontlines of the conflict.
Our beginnings
The Galician Association of Help to Ukraine (AGA-UCRAINA) was founded on February 28, 2022, thanks to the will and initiative of Ukrainian emigrants residing in Galicia, along with their family members and friends, all of whom were affected by the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.
Initially, they decided to mobilize with the goal of addressing the needs of their fellow countrymen arising from the war, which were increasing day by day.
Over time, inspiring new volunteers and confronting new challenges, the association expanded its objectives to address the massive flight of Ukrainian citizens, starting a refugee hosting project.
Currently
The initiative of this group has grown exponentially, becoming institutionalized and generating new projects.
From the very beginning, we have worked with delegations in the four Galician provinces and around 500 volunteers, as well as many companies and public and private institutions that collaborate with us.
Additionally, to better address the needs of refugees, we have established two new services: a legal advisory service for refugees who, once here, require guidance on temporary and international protection, and an employment integration service that assists refugees in finding job opportunities.
Moreover, the association carries out a wide range of additional activities.
But this is only the beginning, as our foundation aims to continue adapting to the emerging needs that may arise.
